NFLPA Screws Up, We Benefit!

Filed under: Colts Cap — bavanlan @ 2:25 pm

Recently, the NFLPA migrated/changed to a new website and new design. However, during the transition something happened that gave public access to the information that is typically held to be private for players and agents only. These include the official salary cap figures for each individual player as of the date received (3-15-2008). Below are the reported numbers compared with my previous best guesses, as well as the net differences between the two.

Once I get the chance to work through these numbers to understand why the discrepancies exist, I will be sure to update the salary cap page. However, until then you can essentially add $448K (the difference for Tala Esera currently has no effect due to the rule of 51), in addition to the $729K resulting from the increased cap limit above the previously used $116mil, to the current figure listed on the salary cap page.

Of question still is whether or not the refund from Glenn’s retirement is included in the $6.5mil cap adjustment (though it’s looking more and more like it is).  If that’s the case, then the increase in cap space I have accounted for would be eliminated.  Stay tuned.

2008 Salary Cap set at $116,729,000

While I’m late to find out (and thus late report and include it), AskTheCommish is reporting that the actual salary cap for 2008 has been officially set at $116,729,000.  While teams are given advanced data as to a general number the salary cap will be set at, the actual number isn’t finalized until later on.  Of course, this gives the Colts (and every other team in the NFL) an extra $729K in cap space than originally predicted.

ColtsCap.net to boldly move into the early 2000’s

Filed under: Colts Cap — bavanlan @ 1:56 am

I’m proud to introduce this ColtsCap Topics/News site, blogger thingy (don’t worry, my personal life will stay out of it).  While still basic (as my technological savvyness continues to limit the features of the site), hopefully this will provide a much easier means of organizing and disseminating the info that I receive.  Further, this setup should allow users to post comments or ask questions without having to deal with the rarely used forums and setting up yet another account.  It should be as easy as clicking and typing.

If any one comes across any problems or has any comments, feel free to let me know.  You can send me an E-Mail by using the ‘Contact’ button up top.

Thanks,

Colts Cap has learned the contract details for the recently re-signed Josh Thomas.

Details available indicate that along with a base salary of $735,000, Thomas received a $250K signing bonus and will receive a $15K roster bonus should he make the final 53 man roster.
